New to the SoundSwitch 2.8 Update is Phrase Editing.

With the new SoundSwitch Phrase Editing feature, you now have more control and flexibility during the Autoscript Process. This collaborative workflow complements the already powerful Autoscript feature, making audio file scripting easier than ever before.

What's possible with Phrase Editing:

  1. Edit Detected Phrases: You can easily modify the detected phrases by changing their type and length. Additionally, you have the option to enable or disable specific phrases, giving you the freedom to fine-tune the autoscripted results for selected phrases or fixtures.

  2. Mix and Match Autoscript Results: Take collaboration to the next level by mixing and matching the autoscript results from different auto script presets. This enables you to achieve a trulypersonalized and collaborative process with the autoscript tool. For example, you can have different autoscripted results for verses and choruses, giving you more creative control over your track.

The detected phrases are categorized as follows:

  • Intro: Represents the introduction part of the track.

  • Main 1: Contains higher energy phrases, similar to a chorus.

  • Main 2: Comprises phrases suitable for verses.

  • Middle: Designed for the middle sections of a track or pre-chorus.

  • Bridge: Specifically for detected bridge or breakdown sections.

  • Outro: Corresponds to the outro of the track.

Phrase Editing:

1. Detect Phrases:

Begin by loading your audio file into the workspace. Then, run the Autoscript tool to analyze your files and identify the Phrases.

Note: If you have updated from a previous version of SoundSwitch you will need to Autoscript your audio file for the Phrase Information to be present.

2. Enable Editing:

Once you've used Autoscript to analyze your track, you can start editing the detected Phrases. To do this, unlock the Phrase Editor by selecting the "Padlock" icon located at the bottom right of the screen.

3. Edit Phrases:

With the Phrase editing functionality unlocked, you can now start modifying the Phrases. You can control various features by clicking and dragging the Phrases or by right-clicking on them to access a menu with options.

Phrase Editing Features:

  • Edit the Phrase Type
  • Rename the Phrase
  • Adjust and Re-Size Phrases
  • Split the Phrase
  • Delete the Phrase
  • Snap the Phrase to Beats or Bars
  • Disable and Enbale a Phrase for scripting
  • Invert selected Phrases
  • Quick Re-Autoscript

Editing the Phrase Type:

To change the Phrase type, select one or more Phrases, and then right-click to choose the desired Phrase type from the menu.

Adjust and Re-Size Phrases:

To adjust the size of a Phrase, click on the selected Phrase and drag it to the desired size. You can also select a portion of the waveform track and easily assign it as a new Phrase. Adjusting Phrases will snap them to the nearest beat or bar based on your selection in the right-click menu.

Split Phrases:

Select a single Phrase, then choose "Split" from the right-click menu. This is useful for breaking Phrases into smaller sections, especially when certain Autoscript styles require more frequent regeneration of color or effects.

Delete Phrases:

This option allows you to remove a Phrase if you want to manually assign a new one. It can also be helpful if you wish to lock a Phrase so that it is ignored during the Autoscript process.

Disable and Enable Phrases:

You can now disable or lock a Phrase, or multiple Phrases, during the Autoscript Process. This is valuable if you want to preserve the scripted information for a Phrase and allow for the generation of new Autoscripts. It's useful for applying new effects or switching between different Autoscript presets.

Invert Selected Phrases:

If you have a single Phrase that you want to re-autoscript, you can also invert the selection.

Quick Re-Autoscript:

After making any changes to the Phrase Editing, you can use the Quick Autoscript option. This will re-autoscript the audio file using the same Autoscript preset or style that was used during the initial autoscripting of the track.

Phrase Editing Tips:

Fixture Categories:

- Experiment with Fixture Categories: You can explore and try out different fixture categories. The new Autoscript presets are designed in a way that selecting a specific fixture category will produce a unique output when using Autoscript.

For instance, if you have four Wash Lights, you can designate two of them as "Wash Primary" and the remaining two as "Wash Secondary." Doing this will give the Autoscript more information about your fixtures, leading to a more dynamic lightshow.

You can configure these settings through the "DMX Page."

- Note: There's no definitive right or wrong choice when it comes to these fixture categories. Feel free to experiment until you achieve a result that aligns with your expectations.

Mix and Match Autoscript Presets:

Now that you have the ability to disable Phrases, you can effortlessly combine different Autoscript Presets. Try blending Autoscript presets for specific Phrases to generate a truly distinct and dynamic outcome.

Randomize Autoscript Settings:

You can introduce randomness into your Autoscript settings using the advanced options. This adds an element of unpredictability when re-autoscripting your audio files, resulting in a more dynamic outcome.
