Within the System Utilities menu, scroll until you find MIDI Setup. The seventh page of the MIDI Setup menu enables you to configure multiple Moog synths into a polyphonic synth stack. The settings are ‘POLY: OFF’ or ‘POLY: (#) of (##)’. The first number indicates which note this specific SP is designated to play, while the second number determines the total number of voices available.
For instance, if you have an SP and a Little Phatty, you would configure the Little Phatty to ‘POLY: 1 of 2’ and set the SP to ‘POLY: 2 of 2’. Connect the MIDI OUT from the Little Phatty to the MIDI IN on the SP. You should now be capable of playing duophonically, with the Little Phatty producing the first note played on the keyboard and the Slim Phatty producing the second note. If all available voices are occupied, additional notes will not sound until enough keys are released to free up a voice.
MIDI Continuous Control numbers (MIDI CC’s) are uniform between the Little Phatty and Slim Phatty, so any changes in parameters such as pitch bend, mod wheel, filter cutoff, and so on should impact all voices at once.
