Unlock the Magic of Pan and Tilt Control with Position Cues in SoundSwitch

Introduction:

SoundSwitch offers an exceptional feature known as Position Cues, which allows you to control over the pan and tilt functions of moving head fixtures. With this powerful tool, you can set precise pan and tilt values for each moving head within a venue and seamlessly combine them to create distinct "Positions." For instance, you can craft a Position using two moving heads, one aimed left of the DJ booth and the other pointed right. Then, you can effortlessly craft a second Position with both moving heads directed straight at the DJ. By arranging these Positions within a song Script or Autoloop in the workspace and synchronizing them to the audio track, you'll witness the moving heads gracefully transition between these Positions as the music plays.

Creating Position Cues:

Step 1: Initiating a New Position

Begin by clicking the plus icon located in the top right-hand corner of the Positions menu in the library. This is the first step in creating a new Position.

Step 2: Configuring the Position

Now, select the Position you wish to configure and double-click it to access the Position Dialog. In this dialog, you can set up the Position for the fixtures. Use the Pan and Tilt crosshair to direct the light in the desired direction. Repeat this process for the remaining fixtures.

Step 3: Renaming the Position Cue

To make your Positions easily identifiable, you can rename them. Simply double-click on a Position Cue and assign it a name that suits your preferences.

Step 4: Saving Changes

Once you've completed the setup for your Positions, press "Apply" to save the changes.

Step 5: Placing Positions in the Master Track

After creating your Positions, you can drag and drop them into the Master Track and align them with your Beatgrid. When you add a Position to the Master Track, you'll notice a position flag in the Movement Track.

Step 6: Deleting Positions

Deleting Positions is straightforward. To remove a Position Cue, select the Position Flag and press the delete key on your keyboard. Make sure you space your Position Flags apart adequately to allow fixtures sufficient time to transition between Positions.

Adding Positions to Fixture Tracks Using the Positions Override Feature:

Should you wish for one of your moving heads to follow a position different from what's in the Master Track, you can employ the Positions Override feature:

1. Make a selection within the Fixture Track for the mover you want to control.

2. Right-click within the selection and choose "Create Position Override." This action activates a section of the movement track.

3. Now, you can drag and drop Positions into the override section of the track, and the mover will obediently follow these cues.
