BFD Player | Troubleshooting Crashes


If you experience BFD Player crashing when selecting presets or launching BFD Player. This guide provides troubleshooting for common causes of crashes, such as incorrect content paths or outdated files, ensuring a smooth experience with BFD Player.


Common Causes for Crashes


Incorrect Content Path:

Crashes may occur if the content library is scanned incorrectly or the path is not set properly. Ensure that the BFD sound libraries are located and scanned correctly.
  • Open BFD Player
  • Go to Settings > Content 
  • Verify that the correct directory is selected for BFD content. 

Corrupted Presets or Libraries:

If a specific preset consistently causes a crash, it may be due to corrupted files. Test other presets, and if the problem persists, consider reinstalling the affected content or resetting the BFD Player Cache via the steps below:
  1. Clear the BFD Player Cache

    • Close BFD Player or any application running BFD Player
    • Go to the following file locations:
      • For Windows: C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\BFD Drums
      • For macOS: /Library/Users/username/Application Support/BFD Drums
        To access the hidden user library: Go to the main user folder and press Command + Shift + .
    • Delete the BFDPlayer folder
    • Empty the trash can/recycle bin
    • Restart BFD Player
      Please note - You may need to rescan your content if located on an external drive.

  2. Reinstalling BFD Player

    If the above steps don’t work, try reinstalling BFD Player through the inMusic Software Manager. This tool ensures you have the most recent version of the software and handles all installations efficiently.
    • Open inMusic Software Manager
    • Uninstall BFD Player via the dedicated uninstaller located in the following folders:
      • Windows Uninstaller: C:\Program Files\BFD Drums\BFDPlayer
      • MacOS Uninstaller: Library/Application Support/BFD Drums/BFDPlayer
    • Delete any remaining user data, which can typically be found in:
      • For Windows: C:\Users\YourName\AppData\Roaming\BFDPlayer
      • For macOS: /Library/Users/username/Application Support/BFD Drums
        To access the hidden user library: Go to the main user folder and press Command + Shift + .
    • Empty the trash can/recycle bin
    • Reinstall BFD Player via the inMusic Software Manager and rescan your content
