Numark | What headphones can I use with my controller

Well you will need to make sure that you are using headphones that meet the specifications which typically will be the following:

  • 1/4” (6.35 mm) stereo output (headphones)
  • 1/8” (3.5 mm) stereo output (headphones)

Note: We do advise that you check the connections on your controller/device prior to purchasing new headphones to use with your device. This is because your unit may have either 1 of the above or both inputs.

DJ Headphones will have a 32 OHM impedance typically however, you will be able to check this via the manufacturers specifications. These are suitable for most DJ environments. Using higher-impedance headphones will work,  but users may perceive a lack of volume compared to lower-impedance solutions.

What is TRS?

TRS stands for Tip-Ring-Sleeve, which describes its three contact points that run along the cable. A Tip, Ring, and Sleeve connector is a common choice for stereos since the extra ring provides the two contacts a way to get a right and left audio channel.

What is TRRS?

The term TRRS stands for Tip-Ring-Ring-Sleeve as it has an additional ring compared to a TRS cable. Most laptops, computers, gaming consoles, and mobile phones come with TRRS jacks. They allow you to speak through the built-in microphone and listen to the audio.
