In this guide, we will walk through the steps to restore your MPK mini's factory presets.
This will be useful if you are looking for a way to 'factory reset' the keyboard.
In this demonstration, we will be using an MPK mini Plus - but the same steps apply for the MPK mini MK3 and MPK mini Play MK3.
Important: Please ensure that you have fully closed down all Music making or MIDI applications before opening and making changes in the MPK Mini editor as other applications may be trying to take MIDI priority of the MPK Mini which will cause issues when saving changes from the editor to your MPK Mini.
Windows OS:
1) Download and install the MPK's editor software which can be found via: Downloads | Akai Professional | Akai Pro
2) Open the editor software for your MPK and click File > Open Program:
3) A pop-up window will appear. Select the following location on your Mac: Documents > Akai Professional > MPK Mini Plus Program Editor.
You will find the default preset available for you to load:
Note: If your preset files are not displayed after selecting Open Program, this means that you are likely inside of the User Presets folder. Simply click on the upwards facing arrow icon in the top-left section of your file explorer to go back to the MPK Mini Plus Program Editor folder.
Mac OS:
1) Download and install the MPK's editor software which can be found via: Downloads | Akai Professional | Akai Pro
2) Open the editor software for your MPK and click File > Open Program:
3) A pop-up window will appear. Select the following location on your Mac: Macintosh HD > Users > 'Your Name' > Documents > Akai Professional > MPK Mini Plus Program Editor.
