Sampling is a popular feature of the MPC Series, and music is general. With the ability to create new and unique tones from a variety of source material, whether it be records, your own instrument, vocals, or sounds from the world around us, sampling provides endless creativity and fun.

This guide focuses on how to record in your own samples, and save them for use in your project. To begin:

  1. Open up the Sampler window, from the main menu.
  2. On the left side of the Sampler, select your input to match the input(s) you are connected to.
  3. Depending on the specific MPC model, ensure the input switch is set to match the signal you are recording (e.g instrument or line).
  4. Play some of the audio source through the input, to check the level at which it is coming into the MPC. Use the fader to adjust the volume as necessary (depending on the input, you can also use the gain knob on the rear of your MPC).
  5. Select 'arm', so that the sampler is primed for recording
  6. The sampler will being recording automatically once signal is received, or once record is pressed.
  7. Press 'Stop' to end the recording.

Once a recording is complete, you can save this to your library via the following method:

  1. Press the 'Save' button in the bottom left of the window.
  2. Choose the destination to save to (it is recommended to save samples to either an installed drive on the MPC, or a removable external storage device such as an SD card or USB drive).
  3. If needed, change the name of the sample, and select 'Save'.

The sample will now be saved to the chosen location, where you can locate it and load into your project via the browser.
