Many functions of the Sheeran Looper + are made available exclusively through the ASSIGN menu for inputs involving the footswitch port. In this quick guide we're going to take about what's compatible and what to avoid when selecting switches for the Sheeran Looper +.

TABLE OF CONTENTS

Single switches

These will always come as a TS cable, and what you're looking for here is a momentary-type pedal. These include tap tempo switches, piano sustain pedals(Word of warning- make sure they have a polarity switch on them just in case) and more. They are made of a simple contact that when pressed together and released, sends the signal that you want to use that assigned function. As the Looper +'s internal systems keep track of the status of that function, it does need to be a momentary pedal. Any single switch pedals will automatically assign to the FS1 position.

Multiple switches

These will require a TRS cable. The way that these pedals work is that the different zones of the TRS connector send the signal for each switch, i.e. Tip for one pedal, Ring for another. As a result, triple switches will not work, as the third switch of that type will often send a signal as a combination of the Tip plus Ring signals, which is incompatible with the Looper Plus. As it was with the single switches, the pedal itself must be a momentary function.

A quick note on Midi Pedals

While most users will be using a midi interface for clock or program changes, if you are using a pedal for those control changes via the Midi In port, please make sure the midi message being sent is also Momentary.
