Akai Pro MPC Series | Changing the Time Signature

If you want to adjust the time signature on your MPC, look no further! This support article provides a couple of options for adjusting the time signature: inserting bars into a sequence at the desired signature, or changing your project defaults so that each new project loads with this.

Inserting bars into a sequence

To insert bars into a sequence, tap the pencil icon to the right of the sequence tab, as seen below.

Once selected, the following menu will appear. Select 'insert bars'.

On the following tab, select the sequence you would like to add the bars to, as well as the desired length, time signature and position. The new bars will now be at the selected time signature.

Changing the Project Defaults

As an alternative, you can change the time signature with which a new project loads. To do this, select the preferences menu, and then the project defaults tab.

To adjust the time signature, change the following two options:

Default Time Signature Numerator: This determines the number of beats per bar of a new sequence (the top number of a time signature).

Default Time Signature Denominator: This determines the value of each beat of a new sequence (the bottom number of a time signature).

Each new project will load with this time signature, until it is changed again.

MPC 3

NOTE: MPC 3 currently does not support alernate time signatures. We are aware of this issue and are working hard to address it.

Please check for updates as the feature will be released in an upcoming Firmware Update.
