Native Access | Installation Failed: Previews Library (macOS 15 Sequoia / 26 Tahoe)
This article provides a workaround for an issue where the Previews Library (Native Browser Preview Library) fails to install via Native Access on macOS 15 (Sequoia) and macOS 26 (Tahoe).
TABLE OF CONTENTS
Symptoms
- The Previews Library installation fails in Native Access with the error message: "Installation Failed."
- The library remains in the "Available" or "Updates" tab despite repeated installation attempts.
- The issue primarily affects users on macOS Sequoia or Tahoe, especially when attempting to install to an external drive.
Cause
This issue is caused by a compatibility conflict between the legacy installer technology used for the Previews Library and the enhanced security and file-handling protocols in newer macOS versions. Native Instruments is currently working on migrating all libraries to a new deployment technology to resolve this permanently.
Workaround
If you are unable to install the Previews Library with Native Access, please follow these steps to manually register the library.
1. Download the Library files
First, download the manual installation packages:
NBPL.zip (Library Content)
Native Browser Preview Library
2. Manual installation steps
- Unzip the `NBPL.zip` file. You will see a folder named NBPL.
- Move the NBPL folder to your default shared directory:
Macintosh HD > Users > Shared - Unzip the `Native Browser Preview Library.json.zip` file to reveal the `.json` file.
- Move the unzipped `.json` file to the following hidden folder:
Macintosh HD > Users > Shared > Native Instruments > installed_products - Restart your computer.
- Open Native Access. The Previews Library should now appear as "Installed."
Installing on an external drive
If you store your libraries on an external drive, follow these additional steps:
- Move the NBPL folder from `Users/Shared` to your external drive.
- Open Native Access and go to the Library tab.
- Locate Previews (it may show a "Repair" button).
- Click Repair > Relocate and point Native Access to the NBPL folder on your external drive.
