Akai Pro MPC Series | Plugin Not Activated

This article will cover the steps to resolve the error 'Plugin Not Activated' when loading a plugin track on MPC Standalone and MPC Desktop Software.

TABLE OF CONTENTS

MPC Standalone

If you have loaded a new plugin track on your MPC and you get the error 'Plugin Not Activated'There can be a few reasons why. Please see the information below to help resolve the error message.

Step 1 - Check Activations Menu

1. Go to Menu > Preferences > Activations

2. If your plugin appears with a green 'Activate' button this means it is not activated.

To resolve this, tap on 'Activate'

An activated plugin will have a checkmark with a Black/White 'Deactivate' button

Step 2 - Check Default Plugin

It may be possible that you have set your default plugin to a 'paid' plugin that is currently deactivated (or the trial has expired).

Due to this, the MPC will prompt you to activate it - as all 'paid' plugins need activation (with a full or trial license) in order to be used.

If you have purchased a 'paid' plugin, or are using it as a trial - the fix is to Activate it via Menu > Preferences > Activations

If you have not purchased a 'paid' plugin, or the trial has expired - check what your Default Plugin is set to on your MPC.

1. To check this in Standalone mode, go to Menu > Preferences > Project Defaults

2. Scroll down till you see Default Plugin Synth

If this is set to a plugin that you have not purchased - please double tap where it says 'Fabric' and select any of the stock MPC plugins in the list:

• Bassline
• Electric
• Drumsynth Multi
• Hype
• Mellotron
• Odyssey
• Solina
• TubeSynth

3. Once you've chosen a stock MPC plugin, tap Select.

4. Then go back to Main Mode and create a new plugin track.

Once this has been done, you should no longer receive the error message after creating a plugin track.

MPC Desktop Software

If you have loaded a new plugin track in MPC Desktop and you get the error 'Plugin Not Activated'. This is occuring based on the Default Plugin that has been set in MPC Desktop software.

It is likely the default plugin is a 'paid' plugin that is currently deactivated (or the trial has expired). Due to this, MPC Desktop software will prompt you to activate it - as all 'paid' plugins need activation (with a full or trial license) in order to be used.

Step 1 - Check Activations Menu

If you have purchased a 'paid' plugin, or are using it as a trial - the fix is to Activate it via Menu > Edit Preferences > Activations

Step 2 - Check Default Plugin

If you have not purchased a 'paid' plugin, or the trial has expired - check what your Default Plugin is set to:

1. Go to Menu > Edit > Preferences

2. Click on Project Defaults > Default Plugin Synth then select a stock MPC plugin using the drop down field:

• Bassline
• Electric
• Drumsynth Multi
• Hype
• Mellotron
• Odyssey
• Solina
• TubeSynth

3. Click OK.

Once this has been done, you should no longer receive the error message after creating a plugin track.
