MPC Standalone | Clear The Internal Drive By Offloading All Content To An External Drive

To offload all your external plugins, projects, and factory expansions to an external drive to free up space on the internal drive, follow the steps below:

Delete Plugins From The Internal Drive

1. Go to Menu > Browse > Places > Internal > Synths.

2. Tap on a plugin folder > hold the Shift button > tap Delete File.

3. Repeat for all plugin folders.

Download Plugins To Your External Drive

1. Connect your exFAT-formatted external drive to your MPC.

2. Go to Menu > Preferences > Activations tab.

3. Tap the Change button under Content Download Drive at the bottom of the screen, then select your external drive.

4. Tap Download next to each available plugin.

Delete Factory Expansions From The Internal Drive

1. Go to Menu > Browse > Places tab > Internal > Expansions.

2. Tap on an expansion folder > hold the Shift button > tap Delete File.

3. Repeat for all expansion folders.

Put Factory Expansions On Your External Drive

1. Re-download and install the factory expansions to your computer by going to the Product Registrations page of your inMusic Profile after registering your product.

2. Connect your exFAT-formatted external drive to your MPC.

3. Connect the MPC to your computer and put the MPC into Controller Mode.

4. Open the MPC desktop software, click the 3 lines in the top-left corner, then go to File > Export > Expansion…

5. Select your external drive under the Drive dropdown menu.

6. Check the boxes next to the factory expansions you want to install to your external drive, then click Export.

7. Close down MPC Desktop, eject your MPC, then tap the onscreen Standalone button to take the MPC out of Controller Mode.

Put Projects On The External Drive

1. Connect your exFAT-formatted external drive to your MPC.

2. Open a recent project.

3. Go to the Menu, then tap the Save button.

4. Tap Project As.

5. Tap on your external drive from the side menu on the left.

6. Tap the New Folder button and name your new folder "Projects".

7. Enter the newly created "Projects" folder > tap the Save button.

8. Once saved, you will see both a standard .xpj project file, as well as a folder named [Project Data]. Please ensure that these two files are always kept together.

9. Repeat all of the steps above with each project to do a full back up of your songs.

Delete Projects From The Internal Drive

1. Go to Menu > Browse > Places tab > Internal > MPC Documents > Projects.

2. Tap on the settings icon.

3. Uncheck the box "hide project data folders" then tap close.

4. Tap on a ProjectData folder > hold the Shift button > tap Delete File.

5. Tap on the corresponding .xpj project file > hold the Shift button > tap Delete File.

6. Repeat steps 4 -5 for all projects.
