Native Instruments Support Traktor

Traktor | Application crashes on startup

When trying to open Traktor Pro, if the application does not start or crashes immediately, this is most likely because the Traktor settings and / or the Track Collection files are corrupt. The steps below will help to resolve this behavior.

Reimport a backup Track Collection

  1. Navigate to the following folder:
    • macOS: Macintosh HD > Users > *your username* > Documents > Native Instruments > Traktor X.X.X
    • Windows: C: > User > *Your Username* > Documents > Native Instruments > Traktor X.X.X
  2. Move the collection.nml file to your desktop.
  3. Start Traktor Pro – it should start up properly without crashing.
  4. Re-import your collection from a recent backup.

Note: Since you imported a Track Collection backup, the tracks that you've recently added may be missing. We recommend adding the missing tracks one by one in order to determine if one (or more) of them are corrupted and causing Traktor to crash upon startup.

Reimport a backup Traktor Settings file

  1. Navigate to the following folder:
    • macOS: Macintosh HD > Users > *your username* > Documents > Native Instruments > Traktor X.X.X
    • Windows: C: > User > *Your Username* > Documents > Native Instruments > Traktor X.X.X
  2. Move the Traktor Settings.tsi file to your desktop.
  3. Start TRAKTOR – it should start up properly without crashing.
  4. Re-import your TRAKTOR settings from a recent backup.

Install all Windows Updates

If you are a Windows user, make sure all your Windows components are up to date. To do so, follow these steps:

  1. Click the Windows Start button, type in 'windows updates', and hit the enter key.
  2. Check for updates.
  3. Install all available updates.
  4. After all of the updates are installed, restart your computer.
  5. Repeat steps 1. to 4 until no more updates are available.

If after completing these steps, Traktor still does not open, it may be necessary to check for corruption. Free software tools like Mp3Val (for Windows) and Mp3 Scan+Repair (for Mac) are designed for the specific task of scanning and repairing corrupt files. Please note that we cannot guarantee the safety and correct functionality of third-party software, though these applications have been successfully tested in-house. Although the repair process is very safe, it is advised to create a backup copy of the files you want to repair. Only after you have encountered no issues with your repaired files, you may delete the backup copy.
