Buying or Selling a Native Instruments Product Second-Hand

This article provides information about re-selling NI products and registering second-hand purchases of NI products.

TABLE OF CONTENTS

Selling a Native Instruments Product

You can sell your NI product after unregistering its license from your user account here. You will receive a License Transfer ID, which enables the new buyer to import the product to their user account. Sellers can find detailed instructions in this article.

Selling Hardware / Software Bundles

Selling a hardware/software bundle (like a Traktor Kontrol S3, Maschine or Ultimate Kontrol keyboard) is as easy as selling a single software product.

You only have to unregister the hardware in your user account and will receive a License Transfer ID that you can pass to the new buyer. After the buyer has imported the License Transfer ID to their own account, they will receive the same software bundle as you, the original owner.

In short, this means that the seller keeps the software that came with the hardware - and the new owner receives it as well. This way, all potential upgrade paths, that are based on that software, stay intact.

Please note that there are a few exceptions with older products. For these products, the software license shows a tag that the license has to be transferred to the new user by our Account Support team.

Buying a Second-Hand NI Product

After buying a second-hand NI product you will receive a License Transfer ID from the seller. You can register the product with this ID to your own user account. Buyers of second-hand NI products can find detailed instructions in this article. If you haven't received a Transfer ID, because you have no contact with the previous owner, please read this article.

EDU and NFR License Information

EDU and NFR product versions cannot be resold or transferred. Please refer to our Terms & Conditions for more information.

Upgrade licences

If a product is removed from your user account, all product upgrades which are based on this product will become invalid. In this case, the NI Registration Support staff will contact you before deleting a product from your user account. For instance, if you upgraded Komplete 13 to Komplete 13 Ultimate, you cannot remove Komplete 13 from your account without Komplete 13 Ultimate becoming invalid.

Third-party (OEM) products license transfers

The license transfer of third-party (OEM) is carried out by the manufacturer. Please contact the manufacturer of your library to arrange a license transfer. If the manufacturer is referring to Native Instruments, please ask for a written authorisation confirming that we can delete the registration.
